I'm On Mrs. G's Open House Tour!

Mrs. G. of Derfwad Manor had a great idea. Let's everyone
post photos and write about the heart of our homes.
So, come on in . . . or as the little sign in my
mom's kitchen said,
"Come in, sit down, relax, converse.
Our house doesn't always look like this.
Sometimes it's even worse!"

Don't trip over the dust kittens.

The two most expensive window seats in the state of WA.
I had to have 'em.

Aforementioned window seats, the piano,
and the fireplace. Comfy chairs for reading,
plenty of room for people and animals to lay around.
We spend a lot of time here, listening to D. play the
piano. He can play ANYTHING. Dog.

One view of the kitchen. Not quite the
heart of the home. More like the elbow.

I do love my new pot rack.

OMG. The cutest fur family EVER! This is Elica's bed
and the stuffed animals are hers. The real ones are ours.

Summer evening in the Pacific Northwest. Chilly, cloudy.
Flowers trying desperately to conjure up some show.

The good thing about our weather? There's
never a bad time for a nice hot bath.

That's it, folks. A tour from the front door to the back deck. Do come again.
And next time, bring some wine!

I can't believe you have a clawfoot tub!! I hope I don't die before I get to bathe in one of my own.

I could live and die on those window seats.

I love your house!

That picture of your animals made my night.

Thanks for popping over!

Ok, I would like Mrs G paintings,

Jen's gorgeous fireplace
The window frames from Jen's house
....and your house - ooooh so much to choose from - I'm loving the weatherboard, your bath, your arondeck chairs (however they are spelt).....what a lovely house.

I'll come. Tell me a nice store to pick up some nice local northwest wine. I do love to support the local economy.

Beautiful home. I'm dying for those window seats. I've always wanted my own.

If I were to really come over, I'd plop myself into the window seats -- after pushing Blackbird and Mrs. G. out of my way -- and then never get up.

Oh, those windows and window seats! And unpainted woodwork! And beautiful colors! Really lovely.

We have the same air filter. Doesn't seem to help with our herd of dust buffalo.

Mrs. G., Thanks for inspiring everyone to do this. It's been great fun visiting in the homes of these wonderful people. And if you need a clawfoot tub fix, come on up, anytime. We'll go to Mount Bakery after.

Hen, so nice to meet you. I will now be a regular vistor on your blog.

Blackbird and Keetha, I know--the window seats. What is it about window seats? I've ALWAYS wanted one. So the two of them are much appreciated and enjoyed almost every day.

Melanie, the windows are so old and wavy that the view out to the park looks like an Impressionist painting. Which is nice, because we are not artists and don't know any, so our "art" is not personal and beautiful like Mrs. G's. I shvitzed over the windows too.

Angie and Jen, seriously, do come. If you are ever in the PNW. . . and you should be. It is a beautiful place!

Oliver Rain, I'm so pleased to meet you. Thanks for stopping by!

And Kimberly, the unpainted woodwork was such a bonus. This house was lived in by the builder's bachelor son until he was in his 90's. He didn't do ANYTHING. And the few owners since him preserved it well. We are so lucky. This is kind of our dream house. It is so peaceful.

Jenn, I'm so glad you came over. I love your blog.

And Pinki, that yellow kitchen was another selling point. We didn't paint it, but I do love yellow kitchens! It's kind of sponged in an old French/Tuscan look, which is even nicer. I wouldn't have the patience to do it. I'm going to check out your blog now.

Thank you all so much for stopping by!

So lovely, even your animals look extraordinarily content.

Did I spy Trader Joe's shampoo by your gorgeous tub? (We tried for the claw foot thing but our stupid modern house wouldn't fit it without a major upstairs overhaul, which sounded too hard even with the promise of a bath afterward).

I'm LOVING your home, yup I am. The window was well wroth the price, whatever that may be. And the furry ones, um, are you kidding me? They all lay around loving like that? Wow.

Yes, Stephanie, that is Trader Joe's shampoo. AND body wash. Only 1.99 for a big bottle!

I have a bordering-on-unhealthy obsession with Trader Joe's. Love, love, love TJ's. Trader Joe is my Secret Boyfriend.

And welcome to my place, Jamie! I took a look at your adorable twins. My goodness how cute!

Thanks for stopping by everyone!

Love, love, love the adirondack chairs, and, of course, the most-excellent window seats. Thanks for sharing!

Those window seats make me want to be a better person, like a novelist or something.

Stolen posters, the very best kind.
When can I come visit?
